Avenue for AWESOME
As an assistant coach for the University of South Carolina Beach Volleyball Program, we continually talk to our girls about the importance of being comfortable being uncomfortable. While I am a firm believer in practicing what you preach I felt why not renew that feeling by tackling things that make me uncomfortable (aka the things I suck at lol). The first chapter of my journey is long distance running. I have NEVER done any long distance running in my 31 years of existence! I've been following a 17 week running program and this run actually happens to be right at the end of the training program. So I figured, why not!
Another reason why I wanted to do this run is because my mother is a breast cancer survivor. The picture above is when I surprised my mom by flying her to South Carolina just so she could be at our Dig Pink match (when I was part of the indoor volleybal staff...and 40lbs fluffier). My mother showed me what it was like to be comfortable being uncomfortable during her battle which she overcame. As much as that time SUCKED, it made our family stronger and made me a better human. I know there are other volleyball moms that are out there fighting breast cancer and I'm hoping that you'll help donate to the cause for them!
All proceeds from the Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon, 5K & 10K will benefit Palmetto Health Breast Center. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
