Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon—25 years of innovation, enhancements and inspiration
Thanks to the support of donors more than $8.5 million has been raised for Palmetto Health Breast Center!
In 1991, the first Walk, “First Ladies’ Walk for Life,” co-foundedby former First Lady of Columbia, Beth Coble, in collaboration with Baptist Medical Center staff, was held Saturday, Oct. 12 with 200 walkers at the former Baptist Medical Center. The 2015 Walk for Life/Race for Life was held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at Finlay Park with 7,400 walkers and runners. Proceeds from the event, more than $537,000, including in-kind donations, will help fund 3D Tomosythesis (DBT) software for Palmetto Health Breast Center at Richland, a whole breast ultrasound system for Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge and a new mammography system with DBT softwarefor the mobile mammography unit.
This year, we are excited to introduce the addition of the Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon! Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon will include a 5K walk and certified half marathon, 5K and 10K races.
