Richland 1 - Satchel Ford Braves
We all know that Satchel Ford is a very special school. The sense of community we share is one that truly makes changes in students lives. We're teaching our children to be kind, thoughtful, and giving people. Over the last 9 years I've heard so many stories of students having lemonade stands, doing chores to earn money to donate, or breaking open piggy banks to "make the sick people well".
Isn't this an important lesson to learn?
This is my 10th year as captain of Team Satchel Ford and I'm asking my Satchel Ford family to join our team and/or to make a donation to continue this important work.
Remember that early detection saves lives and all of the funds raised stay right here in the Midlands. In fact 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime. Those statistics are too high for me to sit back and do nothing. You have the power to help make a change.
Proceeds from this year's Walk/Run will fund a 9th 3D mammography unit for Prisma Health Breast Center at Northeast Diagnostics in Columbia.
I can't tell you how many times I've been asked why I continue to work so hard at this.
I answer, "How can I not?" We all know someone who has been impacted by this awful disease.
Thank you for your generosity, you are a part of the cure!
